Alicante has some forty official neighbourhoods. These are the groups that make a difference to a locksmith, and what to tell us when you call from each.
Around ten pedestrian lanes climbing the castle hill, many of them stairways. No car reaches the door: the van stays below and the tools go up by hand. The surrounding old town is ring I of the Low Emission Zone, with camera-controlled access.
The traditional centre between the port and avenida Alfonso el Sabio. Street door, lift, landing door: most calls here involve two locks, the communal one and your own.
Residential neighbourhoods of apartment buildings. Landing doors, letterbox locks and communal street doors, usually with a street a van can stop in.
Planned from 1959 along avenida Costa Blanca and avenida de las Naciones, with blocks of up to twelve storeys. About one home in five is classed as empty in the city’s housing study. A lock left unturned for months is the one most likely to seize.
Houses on their own plots between San Juan beach and Albufereta: garden gates, pedestrian doors and main doors, often each with its own key.
South of the city near the airport road: eight private phases, each with its own perimeter. Tell us the phase and the block, or send a location pin, and the right gate gets found first time.
Warehouses, workshops and offices on the city’s three managed industrial estates, where a jammed door stops a whole shift rather than one household.
The comarca has ten municipalities, Alicante among them. All nine others are covered, from the coast at El Campello to the mountain villages.
